Afternoon Treat

On a nice day, I like to take my toddler to Sunny Daes on Black Rock Turnpike. A short drive later, we're sitting on one of many picnic tables by the brook on Samp Mortar Drive enjoying our ice cream. When we're finished, we stroll along the brook in search of ducks and geese.

The 108th Annual Fair will be Saturday, June 20, in nearby Weston. Activites are from 10am to 5pm, and include full size audio, video and motion car racing. This could be a good event to take the kiddies and daddies for an early Father's Day celebration.

Win a Color Me House or Rocket!

TheOpinionatedParent.com is giving away an awesome prize for the kiddies: A Color Me House or Color Me Rocket. Entries must be received by today at noon MST so hurry.

Fairfield Facebookers

Is your child(ren) in your Facebook profile picture? If so, then you're guilty as charged...according to this. I ask, "What's so wrong with moms and dads being proud to be parents?"

Support the Beardsley Zoo

The Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport is a great escape for kids and adults! Admission is free for kids under 3, and a reduced price for kids 3-11. It's not as big as the Bronx Zoo, of course, but that means it's also a more relaxing day trip that could be a spontaneous adventure (which also means more enjoyable to some parents, like me!).

But, budget cuts mean the local zoo needs our help. Please take a moment to check out Bidding Green for the Zoo, the online auction benefitting Beardsley Zoo. Your support in this effort will showcase your commitment to the environment while helping to raise money for Connecticut's only Zoo. Bidding continues through June 22.
